A Journey Through the Creative Process
As most of y’all know, I often dive headfirst into songwriting binges. I can’t control how long they last or how intense they get, but I ride that wave like a pro surfer.
After over 25 years of writing music, I can spot when my Muse is about to show up. There are signs, much like the auras migraine sufferers experience. I get moody and sullen. I snap at innocent bystanders. I feel like I’m crawling out of my skin. As someone who leans a bit bipolar, my mood swings can snap with fervor and purpose.
The Muse: A Relentless Companion
It’s a no-survivors, tear-yourself-inside-out adventure. At least, it is for me. Every songwriter has a unique process, even if they don’t always realize it.
